HOVUS is the exclusive distributor for victan®-brand casings throughout North America. These casings have proven successful in many different food processing applications. This is a function of the ability to manipulate the patented polyamide (PA) formulation to fit the needs of the food processor based upon rigorous packaging trials.

Victan® brand casings come in two basic forms; non-oriented monolayer casings (victan® KB,P and PT), and oriented multilayer casings (victan® Multisafe, Formex, XTH, XTM, XTE and their analogs).

Victan® technology also affords the ability to produce a non-oriented tubular film that can be converted into forms useful in the cooking of meats and soups. Victan® NSH is a PA based tube film resistant to 392°F (200°C), while the victan® PH blend is useful to 446°F (230°C).

Oriented Casings

Our oriented multilayer casings are co-extruded and tempered to create precisely defined shrink ratios required for high tech food processing. The multi-layer structure allows this group of casings to perform various simultaneous objectives including high shrinkability, low oxygen and water permeability, and enhanced strength needed for trouble-free use on today's high-speed filling and clipping equipment. The generally approved temperature range for victanŽ oriented casings is 0°F (-18°C) to 194°F (90°C), but this range may be greater in specially designed materials.

victanŽ XTM - a casing with many properties similar to the XTH variety with reduced or medium (M) meat cling

victanŽ XTE - a casing with many properties similar to the XTH variety with significantly reduced meat cling, easy-peel (E) type

Non-Oriented Casings

Our non-oriented monolayer casings (victanŽ KB, P and PT) are extruded and blown tubular films made of a complex PA blend to fit a wide range of food processing applications. This group of plastic casings is non-shrinkable and therefore very suitable for cooked products in moulds, hot or raw filled products. The approved temperature range for victanŽ non-oriented casings is 0°F
(-18°C) to 250°F (121°C).

victanŽ P - a universal casing for large diameter cooked meat products, especially for those products in moulds, such as hams, meatloaves and the like

victanŽ PT - a casing well adapted to fit all raw meat applications and other non-cooked food products
